Racist Philly Cop and I ain't Crushing on this, But I feel Its mY duty to Raise Awareness about this Ongoing Issue

Well, well, well, its post election season and some folks are of course still acting up. Can we catch a break Philadelphia? It seems not. An although one act don't stop the show, it seems that one apple can spoil the bunch. Crazily enough we are supposed to look to cops to protect us and often we find ourselves caught in the middle when we need help and we are harassed by the ones who can't seem to get it together. So some civilians (ha civilians!) find themselves buying guns, blades, mace, and all kinds of stuff for protection. Tell me, have you ever been in a situation with a cop where you feel like a suspect, even though you didn't do anything "illegal"?(what the hell is illegal these days, is that the opposite of liberal). And you have the angry, I could kick the shit of you glare, but your feeling like Terrence Howard in Crash, and maybe you should just calm down and chill out. When does that feeling end? Our communities should police themselves. That's what needs to happen. This is some foolishness. But it's real shit.
Check out this story below to find out about how one Philly cop is handling his job on the force.

If this angers you, do something about it. If it doesn't, read a book.

ADIDAS ATTITUDE HI (WMNS)
The Attitude has long been a big seller for the Freakette who likes a high top shoe to match her tough steez! We featured the striped version here, but let's not front; sometimes it pays to rock pink. Marry it with purple panels and white pops, and this shoe is, as Run DMC says, ‘tougher than leather!’. I see you Ms. Thang with all the Attitude and color!
When I look at this sneaker I get all warm inside. From the delicious color palette to what I like to call a rough feminine appeal (which is not always guaranteed in a high top) I get excited. I'm thinking about the way the denim is going to pair with these high top classics, if you're rocking skinny or boot cut I think you could definitely make it work. I just get all good googly moogly when I see the hotness that these sneaks bring! Go get you some!

GANG @ The Khyber April 7th

A really great friend of mine turned me on to this really hot duo. I'm completely impressed with what these women are doing. I'm a hip hop fiene. You could say I'm always looking for a new band/crew/emcee/dj/producer/whatever that is laying it down. So when I heard them, I said ok. I like you. I will listen. Now as I think about it, I don't think I had a choice. Check them out at the Khyber. You'll be crushing too.
GANG /gang/ n. 1 a band of persons associating, esp. for criminal purposes. A band pursuing antisocial purposes. 2 set of workers, slaves, or prisoners. 3. A band interested in jams, fashion, and community. v. 1 to group, pack, mob. 2 join together, join forces, unite. 3 conspire or plot against, unite or unify against, join forces against....... Band members Jaclyn McGraw and Amanda Damron decided to form a musical collaboration when they realized that they sounded like no other. Their blend of hip hop, rock and roll, craziness, wild attitude and bangin style come together in ways that make people stare in confusion, smile, and then bust out laughing in a good-spirited nature.
"Most bands are gangs. Whether it's a metal group or pop rock, whatever, you get that gang mentality. But for those of us who went back further, gangs were the MOB. The gang was not what anybody aspired to." ~~Bob Dylan, Sept. '06

It's time for GANG again!!!

The Khyber

This lineup is Lissy Trullie (awesome!), GANG, and Cortez! Cortez!! (they're awesome too.)

MondoHomo's Call for Art Call to Arms

CALLING ALL ART FAGS and ART DYKES !!!!!!!

Hey Hey,
The Mondo Homo Art Show is upon us again, and this is the OFFICIAL call for work. The title of this year's show is MONDO-POLITICO. We are trying something a little different this year and asking people to create a work for the show and it's theme. Please put your best ART FAG foot forward and let's make it really shine this year. We want it to be about what it means being queer and political, which is broad and open to many interpretations, but can also spawn some great work. If you have something you have already created that would fit the show, that is great as well.

The show will be at Eyedrum and will open on Thursday May 21st and run through Sunday June 21st. We have the entire back gallery which is really exciting for us. The ceilings are extremely high and I would really like to see some large works to fill up the space.

Please make your submissions digitally to dray.hellonearth@comcast.net. You should submit a jpeg or tiff with a resolution of 300 ppi at about 8" x 10". DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS IS MONDAY MAY 11TH. Notification of selections will be made on Friday May 15th and we will need your pieces in hand no later than Monday May 17th.

It is going to be a great show and festival this year an I am very excited!!

Thank You, Donnie Reider
