Exit Clov and I'm not goin' To Be In Town, But You Should Go!

I love this write up that uwishunu did on Exit Clov. On my search for new bands (whatever the genre), I came across this delicious indie pop band only a few weeks ago. So imagine my surprise when I go to uwishunu's site and see this. Excitement and a touch of sadness since I won't be in town to attend this event. But you should definitely go and enjoy their on point lyrics. It's actually radio worthy (as in if radio was good, it would play them). Either way, put them in your mp3/4 player and have a dance off with your mirror.

From uwishunu:
When it comes to indie pop (an important topic for sure), my friend Sam and I are kinda obsessed with Exit Clov. Last time we saw them play (December, at Johnny Brenda’s), we spent the whole night dancing in front of the stage, and taking 89797989 photos; afterwards, we bought the EP and argued over who would get to keep it (I won.)

What makes Exit Clov so special? For one, they are probably the most adorable band ever. By which I mean: they are the most adorable band ever. Fronted by twin sisters Emily and Susan Hsu (think Tegan and Sara, only much, much cuter), Exit Clov write tightly woven, infectious pop songs, with videogame beats (à la the Postal Service), delicate harmonies, and a smattering of violin (both sisters are also master violinists.)

Hailing from D.C. (they’re good buddies with Jukebox the Ghost), their songs often dip into the political, with titles like “Moving Gaza,” “Strippers and Politicians” and “Communist BBQ.”

“Quit yer Stalin, go buy yer Che shirts now,” sing the girls on “BBQ,” a dreamy, upbeat dance pop number. Did I mention they also have a sense of humor?

Live, Exit Clov are just are mesmerizing, with spot-on vocals, killer bass grooves, and dynamic guitar and percussion. Catch them live this Sunday, April 5, at Old City’s the Khyber. We promise you’ll be dancing along.
