So I've spent some time in the studio with my homie the last couple days and he had this dope book by Banksy called Wall and Piece. Of course, I got all wrapped up in the book and had to be brought back by finger snaps and the tasks at hand. However it got me thinking about all of the graffiti writers that I have grown to love. Now anyone that knows me will tell you I forget names, but not faces. The same goes for art work. Don't be mad if I don't remember the name of the artist, but I can describe everything about the piece I've seen. Check it, so on top of all that, I started to read about the popular opinion of graffiti. I found that most people (which I thought anyway, but it was interesting to read) feel that graffiti destroys the look of the neighborhood and encourages crime. blah, blah, blah. Like Banksy said, how's that any different that a corporation posting their "you're not good enough" ads all over the place. Do you realize that you can't even walk down the street without someone or something selling you something? Try it, go outside and see what you're being sold. Come back write a list. Then create a piece of art about that list and post it in your neighborhood. Anyways I digress, all this graffiti talk got me thinking about female writers, so check out this video I posted about chicas who get dope on walls and various canvases while finding and expressing their autonomy.
